Career Assessments

Learn more about yourself in a quick way

A career assessment is a CAT scan of your career strengths. Each assessment looks at a distinct part of your skills and personality, and you can choose which ones to utilize.

If you don’t like the idea of an assessment or “test,” there are many other ways to assess information about yourself through counseling sessions: experiential exercises, looking at earlier  life experiences and dialogue to help you understand your motivations, passions and directions.

Assessment test packages (

The Highlands Ability Battery

The Highlands Ability Battery is considered the gold standard among tools assessing human abilities. From the research lab of Johnson O’Connor at General Electric, it is a three-hour objective inquiry into the ability patterns of individuals. It consists of 19 work samples. Each work sample is timed to measure of the speed with which you are able to do a series of similar tasks. Shown together on a bar chart, you can see clusters of your work abilities. The more you understand your patterns, you can be guided into more productive work that has a better match.

What will I get from taking the Highlands Ability Battery?

  • An understanding of my natural talents
  • Learning where I am most likely to be happy and successful
  • Using my true strengths more effectively and more consistently
  • Choosing the best option from a group of education/career/job/business choices
  • Finding a suitable educational program for college, grad school or returning to college at any age

“Taking advantage of The Highlands Program definitely gave me the focus I had been seeking for a long time. Thank goodness for the way it was designed to give such specific feedback on a person’s gifts and styles of work.”

PRINT Survey

The PRINT Survey is an outstanding test that gives us information about what motivates you. It reveals nine unconscious motivators and two patterns that predominate for each person. Some of the information it provides:

  • An understanding of your world view; why you do what you do
  • An understanding of the unconscious motivators that drive your behavior

Some of the benefits include:

  • Being aware of what triggers us and causes us to act in counterproductive behaviors
  • A list of career requirements that help in finding a position that is a good match

Taking several assessments provides you with  comprehensive information about yourself and your career choices. It’s like a “Capability CAT scan”: multiple tests provide a 360° view of your talents and information you might not necessarily have known about yourself.
